The college access counselor plays a significant role in communicating and working with all stakeholders to ensure a student’s successful transition from high school to college. From advising students and their families through the college search, to explaining the application and admissions process, counselors must implement a robust management system of communication and guidance. This online course also addresses creating a college list, explaining admissibility and working with campus staff and college admissions counselors.

This course may be taken independently or as a component of the College Access Counseling Certificate.

Course Details

Current counseling professionals* (public/private schools and private practice), parents and school administrators. No previous counseling experience is required for this program.

*This course is recommended for college counselors with less than three years of experience.

 

The Role of the College Access Counselor online course is intended to educate participants about the basics of the college admissions/advising process. This course will not increase the likelihood of admission to Rice University and is in no way affiliated with the Office of Admissions.
