Throughout our 4-day Institute, early childhood teachers will rethink their classroom practices in light of new research.

Topics include:

  • Translating cutting-edge research into classroom practice
  • Making the most of children’s storytelling, dictation, and dramatization
  • Developing effective strategies for supporting oral language development, alphabet and print knowledge, phonological awareness, and other essential literacy skills
  • Considering the big picture of early education: teacher/child relationships, self-regulation, socio-emotional development, and more
  • Bridging the gap between children's homes and school cultures

Time: 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. (may be subject to change)
Location: Rice University, Anderson-Clarke Center
Audience: Educators and administrators of 2 years old to first grade
PD Hours: 30 hours

Early Bird Registration - ends May 31, 2024
Early Bird Group - $845 per person
Early Bird Individual - $895 per person

Regular Registration - June 1- July 16, 2024
Regular Group - $945 per person
Regular Individual - $995 per person

A group discount is available for 4 or more participants from the same school. If you are registering 2 or more participants from the same school, PLEASE COMPLETE THE GROUP REGISTRATION FORM. 

Note: When completing the group registration form, you will be asked to upload a spreadsheet containing information for each participant. The spreadsheet should have columns for the following:

Last Name
First Name
T-shirt size
Email Address (Please list the email the participant will check during the summer.)
Grade or age of students
Position or Title
School Name
Instructional makeup of the participant’s class (ESL, Dual Language, Bilingual, Inclusion, Regular, Special Ed)

Tuesday, July 16 will be the last day to submit a request to substitute a different educator or administrator for the original participant. Substitution requests must be made by the deadline and in writing to slc@rice.edu.

Due to the high demand for this event, Tuesday, July 16, is the deadline to request a refund. No refunds will be given after this date and credits will not be given for future programs or events. Refund requests must be made by the deadline and in writing to slc@rice.edu. A 10 percent processing fee will be deducted from all refunds. We cannot issue reimbursements or credits for any health-related absences.
