Immerse yourself in the life-affirming experiences of wonder, curiosity and awe. Well-being specialist Dr. Elizabeth Slator leads this journey of discovery inviting you to find wonder all around. Grounded in emerging science, explore how seeding and feeding wonder, curiosity and awe can enhance personal well-being, growth, and connection. Learn simple mindfulness exercises that can help you slow down, pay attention, cultivate abundance and recognize the awe-inspiring moments in everyday life. Examine the role wonder and related experiences can play in re-emerging from pivotal life transitions such as career changes, personal loss, health challenges, or retirement. Includes presentations, conversations, suggested weekly discovery activities, and a post-class campus “Awe Walk.”

This class is part of the Living Well series and does not require participation in the prior “Living Well: Whole Life Wellness” course. This course is offered for educational purposes only. Course Details

Elizabeth Slator, Ph.D. has been teaching and consulting in the areas of health, human performance and behavior change for nearly two decades. At Rice University, she is associate director of programs at the Barbara and David Gibbs Recreation and Wellness Center and teaches classes on mindfulness, performance psychology, and leadership development. Dr. Slator also serves as a sport psychology consultant for the Rice Athletic Department, creates recreation and wellness programs for the Rice campus, and is a mindfulness-based health and wellness coach for private clients. She holds a B.S. and M.Ed. from Auburn University, and Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. In addition to her formal education, she is an ICF Associate Certified Coach, a qualified Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction teacher, and an American Council on Exercise certified personal trainer. In all aspects of her work, Dr. Slator supports individuals to meet their lives with authenticity, equanimity and a lightness of spirit.
