One of the most important challenges in an artist’s evolution is to develop a coherent body of work. The through lines that unite one’s artwork can include media, style, line quality, color palette, scale, themes, narratives and more. Collectively, they tell the world: “This is who I am and what I care about artistically right now.” While one’s artistic focus can and should change over time, excavating and elevating unifying elements is a powerful means of spurring creativity and connection. Ellen Orseck helps you uncover your unique creative vision and align your intention and attention through a series of engaging exercises. Explore mind-mapping, idea books and other techniques to develop ideas and mine your experiences. You will create six or more artworks in the media of your choice including painting, drawing, collage or found-object sculpture. This course culminates in the creation of a photobook portfolio and is appropriate for artists who have completed at least one introductory drawing or painting course.
