Mindfulness is a natural, intuitive state of presence that involves engaging with the world with openness, curiosity and nonjudgmental awareness. A regular mindfulness practice can be a powerful tool for coping with everyday stresses and major life events. This course reviews the fundamentals of mindfulness and the stress response and offers practical techniques to develop and sustain the habit of mindful living, even in the face of significant stress. The interactive format includes in-class activities, discussion, suggested at-home exercises and a half-day silent retreat. No prior experience is necessary.
