Deepen the complexity and nuance of your artwork in this dynamic, mixed-media workshop. In the Renaissance, artists explored a single viewpoint through their paintings. In this eight-week course, you will expand this paradigm and incorporate multiple vantage points into single works of art. This perspective better reflects the way we see images in the 21st century. We often view many different images within one screen or on multiple screens and devices. The narrative strength of image-making increases with multiple points of view seen within one frame. Inspiration will be drawn from artists such as David Hockney, Larry Rivers, Jean-Michel Basquiat, Jasper Johns, Ida Applebroog, René Magritte, Frida Kahlo and Romare Bearden. You will be challenged to create artwork that contains multitudes, like we all do. This course, using the media of your choice (watercolor, acrylic, drawing, collage and/or fabric), is open to artists at all levels. Includes a virtual field trip.

Note: Studio art supply lists are shared two weeks before the course start date. Contact cpcoord@rice.edu with questions.
