Draw inspiration from nature in this landscape painting class highlighting the dynamism of the natural environment. Sultry summer days, crisp fall foliage and the blustery drama of powerful storms form the basis of this course. Artists will be challenged to interpret distinctly different types of weather and the impact of that weather on the landscape from season to season. We will explore the work of landscape artists such as David Hockney, J. M. W. Turner, Vija Celmins, Faith Ringgold, Andrew Wyeth, Edward M. Bannister, Georgia O’Keeffe, Joan Mitchell, Claude Monet, Childe Hassam and more. Working from direct observation, vacation imagery and other photographs, artists will examine the influence of weather on the sky, water and land. This course is open to artists of all levels.
