Open to individuals who have completed 60 coach-specific training hours, take the next step toward earning your International Coaching Federation (ICF) credential with Rice University. CoachRICE: A Mentor Coaching Program offers the minimum requirement of 10 hours of mentor coaching to earn your certification.
Mentor coaching is a process of being coached on your coaching skills in preparation for certification as a coach, rather than coaching on professional goals, relationship management, life balance or other topics unrelated to your development as a coach. This course is a continuation of the CoachRICE: A Leadership Coaching program and is the next step to earning your International Coach Federation (ICF) ACC designation.
CoachRICE programs are offered by Rice University's Doerr Institute for New Leaders and administered by the Glasscock School of Continuing Studies.
In order to apply for an ICF credential, you are required to have participated in a mentor coaching program for a minimum of 10 hours by a qualified mentor coach. Mentor coaching must be delivered over a minimum of three months to be documented on your online ICF application. Of the required 10 hours, up to seven hours can be group mentor coaching (maximum of 10 participants) and at least three hours must be one-to-one mentor coaching.
Each group coaching session focuses on two ICF Core Competencies. Time is dedicated to discussing competencies in depth, i.e. considering the ICF definition, its importance as a coach and sharing how or when you've used it successfully during recent coaching sessions. Additionally, each session incorporates practice coaching so all participants have an opportunity to receive feedback from peers and the mentor coach. The CoachRICE mentor coaching package includes 10 hours of group mentor coaching (five 120-minute sessions with the allowance of one absence) and three hours of individual mentor coaching (three 60-minute self-scheduled sessions).
Anyone who has completed the 60 hours of ICF-approved coach training is welcome to apply to the mentoring program.
The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) for the CoachRICE: Mentor Coaching Certificate Program is up to $1,675.
Textbook may be purchased online. Please allow for $35 plus tax.
