Rice University has partnered with IFMA to offer the first and only online university course that helps you prepare for the Certified Facility Manager exam. IFMA is the world's largest and most widely recognized international association for facility management professionals, supporting 24,000 members in more than 100 countries. This live, instructor-led course provides an overview of the facility management body of knowledge to apply the knowledge and skills gained through a combination of facility management experience and education. Tuition includes the most recent edition of the IFMA FM Learning System. Proven FM Competence, Global Recognition.
- Experienced FM professionals with the knowledge and competence to apply their expertise across the entire FM body of knowledge
- Facility and Operations upper management directors/managers/ supervisors, operations/projects/building managers/supervisors
- Product/service suppliers and consultants to the FM industry
- FMPs and SFPs with the goal of becoming a CFM
Fee includes cost of most recent printed edition of and online access to the IFMA Facility Management Learning System. International participants, please note that books shipped internationally will incur additional costs that may be considerably higher.

Online Course Requirements
Students in most professional development programs must have access to a computer and the Internet to complete the coursework required to earn the Certificate of Achievement.
Minimum System Requirements for Online Access
The online courses are delivered through Blackboard Collaborate. Before you get started in a Blackboard Collaborate session, you should ensure that your computer is able to support the needs of the collaboration environment. Connecting to Blackboard Ultra
Students in online format courses must have the following:
- Headset or earbuds with a microphone attached to your computer
- High-speed Internet connection (Ethernet preferable)
- Google Chrome or FireFox (versions 49+) installed on your computer*
Blackboard Ultra can be accessed on a mobile device. The Blackboard app is available on iOS, Android, and Windows mobile devices. Join the webinar directly from your session link in Canvas — the app will open automatically. Please be sure to use your earbuds or headphones, as your built-in speakers may cause echoes during the recorded session.
