Writing is as much about risk as it is about technique. Experience what it means to explore writing with an experienced fiction and nonfiction writer as your guide. Timed prompts are the engine of the class. Because the writing is timed, you practice outrunning your inner critic. Because the writing isn’t critiqued, you find safety in expressing yourself in the moment. Because some writing is shared, you experience the creativity of others, begin to recognize your own, and absorb unspoken details about craft through listening to another and hearing your own work spoken aloud. This class allows you to safely explore the joy and satisfaction a writing practice can bring. Tips to trigger creativity and pointers on craft are included. If you dream of writing or if you’re blocked in your writing, this class will help you uncover your inner writer and provide you with tools to create a satisfying writing practice.

Note: This course is open to writers and aspiring writers at all levels, no matter where you are in the writing process. This course focuses on process writing and does not include critiques or a review of creative-writing genres. Please bring something to write on and with.
