Originally used for sketches and wildlife paintings in the Renaissance, watercolor has grown in popularity over the ages and been employed by some of history’s greatest artists. Artist Ellen Orseck is your guide as you master techniques in watercolor such as transparency and opacity, flat and graduated wash, wet-on-wet, lifting and resists. Learn about the nature of various papers and brushes, and study examples of watercolor works by past and contemporary artists. This course includes a field trip to either an exhibit or an artist’s studio. All skill levels are welcome.
