Join historian Wil McCorquodale for a reign-by-reign survey of the Bourbon monarchs of France: Henry IV, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV and Louis XVI, the five distinct personalities who molded one of the world’s most powerful and influential kingdoms. The Bourbon dynasty rose from the ashes of the French Wars of Religion to unify France and rule for 200 years. The royal house of France enjoyed some successes and terrible setbacks. Although often effective, in some ways a victim of its own contradictions, it fell in a violent conflagration that shook Europe to its foundations.
