Course Details

Bundle pricing is now available for students who enroll in 4 substantive topics at one time.   Individuals without a Paralegal Certificate, but who possess the equivalent knowledge and skills must have a minimum of 5 years working in a law firm or relevant legal divisions of a corporation, such as a real estate firm or an oil and gas company.  (The university retains the right to deny admission if it deems the applicant's experience is not sufficient.)

Upon completion, the student will submit a request for the Advanced Paralegal Studies Certificate.  Please note that there are no additional discounts for certificate bundles.

eDiscovery for Paralegals (PSLEGRET7008)
E-Discovery is the process of recovering data stored on computers, hard drives, external drives, servers, archival floppy disks and other digital storage for use as evidence or information related to a legal proceeding.

Paralegals are used extensively by law firms practicing in real estate law. As a document-intensive areal of law, paralegal are often used to create or identify appropriate forms, applications, titles of deed, create legal documents related to liens and evictions, as well as prepare financial documents related to a client’s real estate.

Ethics and Law for Paralegals  (PSLEGRET7020)
This program explores the regulations affecting the paralegal’s relationships with clients and ethical requirements that legal professionals follow within the justice system.

Workers' Compensation  Law for Paralegals  (PSLEGRET7016)

The estimated Cost of Attendance (COA) is $1995

Registrations are considered final as of 10 working days before class starts. No refunds will be issued after these dates and credits will not be given for future classes. No refunds will be granted for participants who miss a portion of a program. Refund requests before the deadline are subject to a 10% processing fee and must be made in writing to gscs@rice.edu. If books have been issued, the cost of the books and any shipping fees will be deducted. Refunds for credit card payments will be processed as credits to the accounts from which they were paid and may not appear as a credit until the following statement. Refunds for enrollments paid by check take up to four weeks to be processed and mailed by the Rice University accounting office. There is a $30 charge for any check returned for insufficient funds.
